Day-to-day Inspiration

It seems like every time I open my web browser in search of inspiration, I am bombarded by an overwhelming feeling of incompetency, and yet, I keep going back for more. (Huh. Isn’t that the very definition of a masochist?)

Here are some sites I visit frequently (in no particular order) to get my daily fix of “I wish I would’ve come up with that” feelings:

 What are your favs?

I subscribe to the above as well and also really like:

    scottefranson.blogspot.com

    http://freelanceswitch.com

    CreativeCommons.org

and Etsy.com (not really design related but you can find some great designed stuff on there from indie designers)

Oh and for the non-crafty wall decals you all should check out Blik.

I sure know the feeling, I experience it every time you pass along your latest work ;-)
Lately I’ve been trying to find inspiration outside of designed things and more in the world. There’s something refreshing about allowing the form to spiral out of discoveries made at the heart of an issue or problem. (As opposed to allowing preconceptions of “a great piece” to dictate the form).

Vik Muniz: My favorite artist. Click: Gallery -> Pictures of Clouds -> Worst Possible Illusion for a great documentary.
TED Conference Talks You can sort by “Design”
Radio Lab: Information as music. Very inspiring.
One of many great firms. Always inspiring to see good ideas

    I agree, great sites.

For whats new in motion design I’m all about http://www.motionographer.com and to a lesser extent http://www.feedhere.com - They both have links to major studios, but motionographer does a better job of showing only stuff bound to inspire, which I’m grateful for.

Also any director at http://www.passion-pictures.com is awesome.

Lately I’ve been really into this sweet typodesignistrator- http://alextrochut.com/ Cheers!
